I am a Northern League supporter without a club to favour and double as a sometime genealogist who has researched his family tree back to the early 1600's, compiling a file of individual relatives totalling just over 3,000 names. I have been happily married to Maureen for 53 years. We have 1 son, 3 daughters, 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and absolutely no money!

Consett 2-2 Dunston Federation

Northern League Division 1
Belle Vue
Ashdale Road
Consett
This was the match of the day, league leaders against third and all to play for! I was not disappointed either, a very good game played in the right manner.
Consett went on the attack right from the start and were rewarded in the third minute when David Pounder met a cross from the right by Gary Ormston with his left foot and volleyed in. 1-0
The Fed seemed to take control for a while after that and when Fergal Harkin lofted the ball into the penalty area, Kane Young sent his header into goal. 10 minutes 1-1
Just after the half hour mark, Fed were awarded a penalty and Harkin's weak attempt was saved by Paul Gilmore. 3 minutes later, Andrew Bulford gave Fed the lead with a delightful left foot chip over Gilmore. 1-2
Shortly after half time, Carl Piecha's left footed strike gained a deflection on it's way into the net. 2-2
Both sides played some good football from this point and both sides will be claiming some unfair refereeing decisions cost them the winners' points, but I thoroughly enjoyed the game and think that a draw was the fair outcome.
